"Yoga does not remove us from the reality or responsibilities of everyday life but rather places our feet firmly and resolutely in the practical ground of experience. We don't transcend our lives, we return to the life we left behind in the hopes of something better..."
Donna Farhi
Yoga is for everyone, it is inclusive, non-competitive and can easily be incorporated into the work environment. Yoga is unique in its' ability to stretch away tension with the body and improve general health, flexibility and fitness whilst also reducing mental tension and stress. Practice does not only include the asanas (physial postures of yoga) but also Pranayama (breath control), concentration, relaxation, visualisation and meditation techniques.
Business benefits:

ü Improve functioning of internal organs, nerves and glands, improves general health.
ü Reduction in physical tension, improved health, less tension in neck, shoulders and back.
ü Reduction in emotional/mental tension, improved mental health, feelings of wellbeing.
ü Improved conentration leading to stronger focus and improved decision making.
ü Encourages introspection and flexibility in thinking, greater objectivity in decision making.
ü Relaxation, promotes more efficient working and more harmonious colleague/client relationships.
In summary, Yoga therapy can help to reduce sickness rates and prevent injuries/illness, it is able to unravel many of the tensions and stresses naturally accumulated when working in a high demand or high risk area of work. It promotes understanding of the physical body, encourages better health through specific movements of the body. It encourages healthy breathing patterns, freeing restrictions which may have been in place for some time. Practice helps to free mental and emotional tensions can sometimes lead to poor decision making or irrational responses or behaviours to particular situations. This is often replaced by feelings of calmness, increased ability to cope and self-awareness to manage time/health more effectively when under times of pressure.
